So Much Pileup

So Much Pileup is a blog started by Mike Davis, a graphic designer living and working in Minneapolis MN, to share some of the work from his collection that's inspired from the late 1960s through the early 1980s.
I'll be posting logos, postage stamps, motion graphics, packaging and promotional design from the time I consider to be the golden era of graphic design, just before computers took over and anyone with a copy of Photoshop and 10 fonts started calling themselves designers.

Paper Artistry of Phillip Valdez

Paper Artistry of Phillip Valdez features Phillip's personal paper sculpture work and the images;  the artists, random flotsam and jetsam that inspire him.
Phillip Valdez was born in New Mexico to a jackalope and an alien. Having earned a college scholarship in engineering from NASA he opted for partying his way through the first 5 years of higher learning, eventually earning a degree in Design and Illustration after moving to Seattle, WA in 1993.
In 1996 he created his first mask on a whim and won first place at the Seattle Art Museum Masquerade Ball, with the mask he made for his wife earning second place.
Phillip began creating masks in earnest at the request of his wife, to be used in her photography. This collaboration led to several creative series including the Tarot of Masks and the Dream Masquerade series.
Phillip is cerrently employed as a technical illustrator and spends his precious free time working on various creative projects. All the masks are made from heavy paper and glue, with Phillip's natural engineering abilities transforming these simple tools into amazing art.
Check out his Mask gallery and Tarot of Masks gallery to see more his awesome paper sculpture works.

Letters to Dead People

Letters to Dead People is a morbid little blogging project by Celine Song. Some are funny, while other are lovely and nerdy, and sometimes they're a bit sad. You can send in a suggestion (of a dead person to write to), or you can write your own and hope you're lucky enough to get yours made into a 'Dead Letter'.

Stuff no one told me.

Alex Noriega is a dude from Barcelona that likes to draw stuff. At some point in 2010 Alex was going through a crisis due to some work isues. As he said, he decided to start Stuff no one told me blog as a way of trying to find what he was doing wrong.
I wanted to put on paper all that I had learned in life as simple as possible and try to see if what was happening around me made any sense. It didn't.

Sleeveface

Sleeveface is an internet phenomenon wherein one or more persons obscure or augment body parts with record sleeve(s), causing an illusion. Put the sleeve in front of your face, strike the pose of the rock god you've chosen, and get yourself photographed. It's easy but it helps if you have a big record collection.

The term 'Sleeveface' was coined in April 2007 by Cardiff resident Carl Morris after pictures were taken of him and his friends holding record sleeves to their faces whilst Djing in a Cardiff Bar. His friend John Rostron posted them on the internet and created a group on the nascent Facebook social networking site. From here the craze became more widely known.
